What is Office Settings Backup Wizard 2010?
We developed this application because we were wondering whatever happened to that nifty Microsoft Office Save My Settings Wizard that used to come with Office versions 2003 and earlier. We needed a super simple way to save, backup and restore just our MS Office settings, without the need for complex tools and configuration changes, and we needed it to save regardless of where user profiles were located. We also wanted to be able to copy the Office settings of one user to other users. Thus the application was born as the Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard. We've now advanced the application to save the settings of the new Office 2010 (all editions and version releases), and added the ability to upgrade or migrate previously saved 2007 settings into Office 2010.

It’s two main components are “backing up” your MS Office settings, and “transferring” MS Office settings from one machine to another like I did. If you choose to use it as a “transfer utility” you will only be allowed to transfer MS Office setting from PC #1 to PC #2 once per license purchase. However, the program will always backup (and restore) the MS Office settings on the computer it’s installed on. If you have any questions about this or anything else, just send them to tech support via the web site as they are very friendly and will respond promptly.

This latest version resolves an issue where a restore warning would not be issued when 2010 email account profiles may be overwritten, another locales update, and several other minor issues. Previously in 5.7.3.1 we corrected and issue where certain international locales could not use the options window. Many thanks to our customer Wolfgang for his time and patience in helping resolve that issue.
What settings can I backup and save?
Now there's a loaded question! There are so many settings and preferences inside the Office Suite of applications, this site would be hard-pressed to list them all. Even the most advanced Office users will find the application backs up more than they knew existed.
Quick Access Toolbars, Dictionaries, custom ones too,
Auto Correct Lists, Themes, Document Building Blocks, Toolbars, Window Positioning Preferences, Templates, Signatures, AddIns, AddIn Load Behaviors, Email Account Profiles (limited), Security Preferences, many-many more.
What does it not backup or restore?
The wizard will not backup or restore your Outlook Email, Folders, Contacts, Tasks, or Calendar Entries. These are not settings, and the ability to backup and restore those items is already a function built into Outlook through the Import/Export feature. If needed, you should perform those steps as documented in Outlook's help files.
Outlook Email Account Profiles have limited restore functionality due to many different kinds of accounts, and the ways in which their settings are stored. Outlook Email Account Profiles are not guaranteed to transfer due to those reasons. Have your accounts written down and ready for manual input when needed.
