Using Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard
Using Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard
What
is Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard
Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard Developed by Computer Network Consultants, LLC. Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard will back up and restore your personal and custom settings for any of your installed Office 2007 applications. If your settings are lost or corrupted, they can easily be restored to any previous available backup point. This also means you can actually have multiple settings profiles saved and swap back and forth between them. Earlier versions of Microsoft Office were pre-packaged with an additional tool called the "Save my settings Wizard". With the advent of Office 2007, this functionality was moved and incorporated into the MS Vista operating system as a small part of their larger and more complex System State Backup Tool. This left users of Windows XP without any means of saving their settings. This is where Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard Steps in and saves the day. Users of MS Vista will still find the tool useful as it can encapsulate multiple backups and is considerably more easy to use. The Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard is an independently developed application and was not developed by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft and Microsoft Office 2007 is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corp. in the United States and/or other countries. The names of actual companies and products mentioned herein may be the trademarks of their respective owners. [ Index ] [ http://www.settingsbackup.com ] ![]() Requirements

What Settings are
backed up?
Well, that's a big question! Quite frankly there are so many office settings that it would be quite extensive to list them all. By far, the vast majority of users, even the most advanced, will find all of their office 2007 settings are restorable. Using the Advanced Selections window even allows YOU to control which settings are backed up. Be sure to select all the items on the General Tab if you want everything backed up. Microsoft Office 2007 settings are a complex web of intermingled options, spanning and crisscrossing the suite of products. There may be times when the personal setting you adjust in one application actually affects ALL Office applications. So, again, be sure to include everything under the general tab, in the Advanced Selections window, to truly get all of your settings. The General tab options are selected by default. Note: By design, the application will NOT backup or restore your Email. Office 2007 already includes this ability using "Export" and selecting "Export to PST file". Note: By default, Email Account Profiles is the only option not selected under the advanced Selections window. If you add any email account profiles, then restore any older version, it will over-write your new email accounts! Select this option carefully! 1.) Products whose settings can be saved include;
![]() [ Index ] [ http://www.settingsbackup.com ] How to backup your settings Backing up your settings is as simple as clicking the Backup button! By default the application is already configured to back up all of your Office 2007 settings, with the exception of your Outlook Email Account profiles. This can be adjusted under the Advanced Selections window. If you have any open Microsoft Office applications, the program will not permit you to backup until those applications are closed. After you close your open Office 2007 applications, click "Retry" to re-enable your Backup and Restore buttons. Be sure to close out of your Office applications at the end of the day. This will ensure that any scheduled backups you have configured will run. ![]() [ Index ] [ http://www.settingsbackup.com ] Options From the main menu, click "Tools" and "Options". Backups Folder: Under normal circumstances, this path should not be changed. This path points the actual physical location on your computer where your backups are stored. All of the files, folders, and office registry keys needed to restore your settings are broken out into various sub-folders. Number of Backups to keep: This tells the application to remove backups older than the number of days you have selected. They will continue to be listed in your backup history, however they will be no longer restorable. ![]() Scheduled Backups - Automatic Daily Backups Inside the Options window, scheduled daily backups. Choose your desired schedule, and click Apply. When a scheduled backup is enabled, your application will not close when you exit, instead it will sit in your task tray, waiting to run. You can "Right-Click" on the task tray icon, and shut it down completely if desired. Note that exiting this way will disable your scheduled backup. !! Remember to close out of your Office applications at the end of the day, as a scheduled backup can not run if any Office applications are open. If you are in the middle of using your application, when a schedule is set to run, you will be prompted to choose one of three options; - Allow it to run, put it on hold, or cancel today's backup completely. If Office 2007 Settings Backup Wizard is minimized to your task tray, you will not be prompted, and backup will occur silently.
Scheduled Backups - What to do if Office is running?If you left an Office 2007 application open, when backup was supposed to occur, it will fail. However, in the options menu, you can select one of three different default actions. 1.) Cancel for the day: You could choose to have your backup cancel for the day, resuming again at it's regularly scheduled time tomorrow. 2.) Try again in 1 hour: Scheduled backup will silently and swiftly check every hour to see if there are no running Office applications and start backing up. 3.) Notify Me: Finally, you could choose to be notified. If you choose this option, you are given the opportunity to close your Open Office applications. Select "Retry" until there are no more open Office applications, and your backup will immediately resume after clicking Ok. [*pictured at right] This toggle allows you to change the startup behavior of the application. [ Index ] [ http://www.settingsbackup.com ]
